Does the number of breaks I’m entitled to vary based on the industry I work in?
Yes and no.
While UK law on work breaks applies to all industries, it’s common for different approaches to break-taking to be upheld by employers based in different industries.
In workplaces where health and safety is at risk and the work is deemed to be ‘monotonous’ – for example a production line – employers are required to give their employees enough breaks so as to not compromise their safety.
